Newsletter 20th April 2018
April 23, 2018 Sandy Pike

Dear Parents and Carers

It is good to see the children all back in school after a rather damp Easter Holiday. The weather since has shown us that the sun is, in fact, still up there, but cannot be relied on! Therefore, please make sure your child has a named waterproof coat in school, as well as a named sunhat. If it is looking as though it will be a fine day, please apply the once-a-day sun-cream before school.

We have a very busy term ahead, with trips, sports events, a summer play, Bikeability and a full-curriculum to keep the children enthused. As we hope to get outside as often as possible, please make sure your child has full, named PE kit in school every day. Work to prepare the swimming pool has already started, but it is unlikely we will swim before the half term holiday. Please double-check that all uniform is clearly named so it can be easily retuned to the right child.

Some children have received a letter informing them about the ‘Forest Schools’ sessions we are offering this term. For children in Years 4 or 6 (and some of Year 3), the sessions will start after half term. If your child is in Years R, 1, 2, 3 or 5, you should have received a medical and permission form; please make sure it is completed and returned to school by Monday otherwise your child will not be able to take part in the activities. If you did not receive the form, Mrs Pike will be able to give you another.

I got buy Xenical and lost weight from 102 kg to 62 kg. The effect of course in the first months was not noticeable, only the mechanism of normal metabolism was launched, but then I began to lose weight rapidly.

Clubs start next week. Please sign the attached form to request a place at the club. If your child has to be put on a waiting list, we will inform you as soon as possible. If your child is unable to attend a club on any day, please make sure the member of staff running the club is informed in advance. Also, if your child no longer wishes to go to the club, please inform the member of staff in writing before they finish, so that their place may be given to another child. If you would like to help with an activity, or run a club of your choice, please don’t hesitate to let me know. As always, I am grateful to the school staff who give so freely of their time at the end of a busy day.

Stower Provost Carnival Float – From Sam Wattridge and Nikki Tynan
We have had an idea and thought we would share it with you and see if your children would be interested in joining a weekly carnival creative club, with the intention of entering as “Stower Provost School” in the afternoon procession at Shaftesbury carnival, on the 29th of September . We appreciate this seems like a long way from now but with the summer break we would need to get costume creating this term.
The idea is that the children would initially vote for a theme and then we would start work with the children designing and making their outfits and the procession performance. Stower Vale preschool are also keen to support us with this and so it would be great to have lots of school children there too.
If you could return the attached form to indicate if your child/children would like to attend, with their name and class also, we will be in touch soon with a start date.
The club is expected to run on a Wednesday until 4.30pm, each week.

Please remember to keep using the school diaries and reading records as a way of keeping in touch with the class teachers, and do come and share your thoughts with me about the school, your children’s education, or any other aspect of school life.

With best wishes

James Stanford
