Restorative Justice

Restorative Justice
November 14, 2021 Dan Wareham

This term, Oak class has been doing a thematic study of Crime and Punishment from 1066 to the present day. We have been exploring what justice means in the 21st Century, and as part of this, we were lucky to have ex-police officer Jon as our expert. He talked to us about policing in the 19th Century, and then how restorative justice is used now. We then did some role play, taking turns to be the perpetrator and the victim. We decided that it could be a useful way for people to say how they felt so people might be less tempted to re-offend and that it allows the victim to show the effect of the crime on them and their families.
