School Meals

As part of the Healthy Schools agenda the school places great importance on Healthy Eating. At break times, snacks must be either fruit or vegetables. Key Stage 1 children receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable at each morning break.

Since September 2014 all children in Reception and Years 1 and 2 have been entitled to a free hot lunch. These are provided by Local Food Links who cook the meals in their kitchens in North Dorset and deliver them each day. Meals may be ordered online at least 7 days in advance, either on a weekly basis or up to half a term at a time. Pupils in KS2 may also order the hot meals (at £2.34 each) or alternatively children may bring a healthy packed lunch from home.

Local Food Links supply hot meals to many schools in the local area and across Dorset. They provide nutritionally balanced hot meals using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. Their menus are varied, providing vegetarian options as well as main meals and jacket potatoes / wraps on certain days; they will also accommodate any special dietary needs e.g. lactose intolerance, diabetes, by speaking to individual parents.

Meals can be ordered online at https://my.localfoodlinks.org.uk/login. Each child is allocated a unique code to be used by parents when registering for the online ordering service. Paper menus and order forms are distributed in each child’s book bag every half term.
