Moving up to Secondary School

Stower Provost is a feeder school to Gillingham Secondary which has a very good reputation in the local area. We have strong links with staff there who visit the year 6 children for Literacy and Numeracy lessons during their last year at primary school. There is usually a transition project in the summer term which is jointly planned by staff in both schools. Gillingham also provides several opportunities during the year for more able pupils e.g. organising a Maths Club, encouraging more able athletes.

Other schools in the area are at Shaftesbury, Sturminster Newton and Sherborne and while we occasionally have children who make those choices, the vast majority go on to Gillingham Secondary when they leave primary education.
