October 13, 2017 Sandy Pike

Dear Parents/Carers,

1st Prize – a ticket to the value of £25 to The Shaftesbury & Gillingham Fireworks Extravaganza on Saturday 4th November (kindly donated by the Wattridge family).

+ various runners’ up smaller prizes

We are asking children to produce a piece of work on the theme of “November”.

This could be art, writing or poetry.

Entries should be brought to the hall on Monday 30th October for judging.

Lockdown Policy

We will be introducing a new Lockdown Policy soon with our first ‘non-urgent Lockdown’ practice. Children will been told that we have a fire alarm for when the building is not safe and we have Lockdown if there is something in the grounds of the school that is not safe. Please discuss Lockdown with your child.

Free School Meals

There is a process for anyone applying for Free School Meals.

Please talk to Mrs. Pike in the office if you think you may qualify. The school receives extra funding to support pupils so please do explore this, even if your child is in Years R-Y2 and has a Universal Free School Meal which they are all entitled to. It is a bit confusing so do ask if you are unsure.

Annual Flu Vaccinations

The School Nursing Team will be visiting our school on Tuesday, 31st October to administer the nasal spray flu vaccination to Years 1, 2, 3, 4 and Reception class, if you have given your consent. A letter is available in the office from the School Nursing Team if you have not received it via email.

Absence

Please support us in our quest for 110% attendance! We are working relentlessly to secure an ever improving education for your child but they won’t get a good education if they are not in school!

However, we do appreciate that sick children cannot attend school. Sometimes, it is hard for parents to judge the extent of illness first thing in the morning. It is okay to send your child to school in this instance and we will call you if your child really is too unwell to be in school. Please ensure you either telephone or email the school office before 9am each day that your child is going to be absent from school.

Have a lovely weekend.

Best Wishes,

Mrs.Weaver
