Dear Parents and Carers
It is amazing how quickly the weeks are flying by, and next Friday we will be breaking up for the half term holiday. The children are continuing to work well and make good progress in their learning.
Hazel and Beech Classes had a wonderful time on their trip to Kingston Maurward on Tuesday and they really enjoyed seeing all the animals. As usual, I was delighted to receive reports on how well they behaved and it is so good they should have managed a school trip at last. Thank you to all the adults who helped and to Miss Buxton for making all the arrangements.
World Book Day – a message from Miss Gale
World Book Day is on Thursday 3rd March. The children will be coming home with a book token which they can use to swap it for one of the World Book Day books or put it towards buying a book.
For this day, the children will be able to come dressed as a book character. In addition to this, they will need to bring in a character description they have written about this character using the information from the story this character appears in. These descriptions will then be shared with their class. For Hazel Class, they can draw a picture of their character and add labels if they can.
Dressing up is optional. If the children do not wish to dress up, they will come to school in their uniform as usual.
During the day, the children will take part in activities which will aim to further encourage a love for reading.
Internet Safety
On Tuesday it was Internet Safety Day, a useful time to remind the children how to keep themselves safe on-line. Earlier this week, Dorset’s Safer Schools and Communities Team sent out the following warning:
Huggy Wuggy is a character from a computer game Poppy Playtime, which is a horror/survival game available on Steam, Poppy Playtime chapter 2 has been released 2022. There does not seem to be an age rating for Poppy Playtime and there are multiply copycat versions available for young people to download on Roblox and other app stores.
On YouTube there are lots of videos of game play of Poppy Playtime and the Huggy Muggy song – who sings about hugging you until you pop.
It is unsuitable for young children, videos of poppy playtime game play are NOT filtered out by Google safe search or YouTube restrictions and some game play videos are available on YouTube kids.
If you hear your children talking about this character, I would be grateful if you would let me know, as we can revisit some of our lessons on how to stay safe. In the meantime, please be especially vigilant about what your children are accessing on the internet.
