Dear Parents and Carers

I am pleased to let you know that the report from our latest Ofsted inspection is now available for you to read; it will be published on the Ofsted website in the next week or so. Please see the letter attached here and published on our school website as usual.

As you will see, there are many very positive comments about the work we have been doing as a school, showing we have been focussing on the right things. I will be working with the staff, the Local Authority and members of the school Governing Body on rewriting the School Development Plan to reflect more closely on this work, and the staff are continuing their work on the school curriculum which will address the main points in the report.

The inspector looked closely at many aspects of the school, spoke with a range of children, read your comments on ParentView and talked to staff and governors. The overall judgement that we are taking effective action towards revising our Ofsted grade to Good is very pleasing, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support in helping us get to this point.

If you would like to discuss any of the comments made in the report, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Swimming

I hope your children have been coming home having enjoyed their swimming sessions. With the pool operating at around 30oC and crystal clear water it looks wonderful. We are going to try to give the children the opportunity to use the pool as often as possible for the remaining 5 weeks of term, so please make sure your child has their full, named swimming kit in school each day.

Covid Restrictions

In light of the latest news about any relaxation in rules, we will be having to change some of our plans for the end of term activities. Gillingham School has just informed us that it will not be operating its transition day for Year 6 on 30th June, but has reserved 21st July as a potential. This is the day we had earmarked for our Sports Day… We will be putting on our end of term play, Troy Story, but unfortunately we will not now be able to include children in Hazel Class this year in order to limit numbers. I will talk to the staff at the beginning of next week to see how we can fit everything in and send you a revised list of dates and arrangements which we really hope not to have to change again!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

With best wishes

James Stanford
