Brass Concert. At the end of their 10 week programme, Chestnuts gave a superb performance, directed by Mr Randall from Dorset Music Service. After some explanation of the basics (‘buzzing lips’ and how to play different notes on different instruments) the large audience of parents was treated to versions of ‘Drunken Sailor’, ‘Ribena’ (a non-alcoholic version of ‘Tequila’) and the ‘Strictly’ theme. It was remarkable just how much the children had achieved in a relatively short time!

Nuts and allergies. We do have a number of children with nut allergies in school, with some risk of serious reactions. Bearing this in mind, I’d like to remind you not to include food items with nuts in lunchboxes or as a break-time snack. Thank you for your co-operation.

Notices. You may have noticed that a new case for notices has appeared on the school to the right of the main entrance, and the decrepit wooden case on the end of ‘School House’ has been removed. Less immediately obvious, but equally welcome, is the new surface to the whiteboard by reception. Many thanks to Mr Gilding and Mr Wattridge for fitting these and to the PTFA for funding the boards.

Sponsorship is still welcome for our Swimarathon team – please ask at the office. Don’t forget it’s The Big Pedal next week, and also that the clocks go forward this week-end. Turning up for school at 10 on Monday morning would be really embarrassing!

Best wishes

A Covell
