28th April 2016

Dear All,

Despite the very unseasonal weather, we have had great support for the ‘Big Pedal’ this week, thank you! A few children cycled every day! Thank you to parents who cycled with their children they wouldn’t have been able to do it without you!  It’s great to see the bike shed full every day. I used to love cycling to primary and secondary school every day ‘when I was a lad’, I wasn’t so keen on my return journey to Shaftesbury yesterday afternoon in the hail! We are only one of two schools in the Gillingham and Shaftesbury area taking part in the event, so once again we are setting the pace! Thanks Mr Covell for organising this.

A big thank you for your donations for the bags to school, this raised a whopping £157.20.  As always your support is really appreciated. The PTFA need you! Your input, ideas, enthusiasm and generosity are what help fund projects in the school to benefit your children. The committee need you! A Chairperson is needed as soon as possible to help coordinate the association. Please come forward if you feel you can help, it would be a crying shame if by September the PTFA no longer have a leader. Please contact me if you can help.

I’m looking forward to the long weekend, lets hope the weather warms up and we can all get out and enjoy the sunshine!

Kind regards

Martin Marshall

Hall of Fame! Certificate Winners

Our stars of the week this week were Ashleigh (Conkers), Joe (Acorns), Isla (Chestnuts) and Connor, Cameron and Daniel (Oaks). They have all shown the skills required to be a good friend this week. Amelia was awarded her group one swimming certificate. Daniel, Thea and Ella shared the medals and certificates they had been awarded at an athletics competition in Wareham. Well done for representing the school and the county so brilliantly. Kisna, Corleigh and Eden (Chestnuts) all received their silver certificates. Emilee, Alfie (Chestnuts) and Jago (Oaks) all received their gold certificates. Chestnut class won the spick and span award for the tidiest learning environment. Acorn class won the attendance award for 99% attendance. Remember if you have achieved something out of school and would like to bring it in, we will celebrate it! Look on the website for photos.

And Finally……

Thanks for the great response to my appeal for volunteers, I haven’t forgotten about you. I’m waiting on sourcing some materials etc and the time scale on that and then I will get back to you all on a possible date. In the meantime if anyone else would like to offer their services that would be great. Especially if you are skilled in putting up post and rail fencing, wielding a paint brush, hanging gates, handy with a screw driver or just keen to get your hands dirty!
