Book Tokens: There’s a free to enter draw on the National Book Tokens website where you can nominate a school of your choice to win £5000 worth of book tokens (and you’d get some yourself). Have a look on : https://www.nationalbooktokens.com/schools

Internet safety: Also on-line is a newsletter for parents from the Dorset Safer Schools and Communities team http://mailchi.mp/23e08059cf14/ssct-online-safety-newsletter-for-parents-summer-2017

This edition covers what you need to consider if you think your child or young person is ready to take the next steps online, such as having a tablet or phone. It also discusses social media and online gaming. It also gives advice on applying parental controls to gaming consoles such as the ‘X Box’ and similar. Do you know what your child is up to on the internet?

For last Friday’s assembly, our ‘Stars of the Week’ were Joel, Sonny, Georgia, Rubeckia and Darren. Willow and Alisha both received silver certificates, whilst Hannah gained her Gold Reading award. From ‘out of school,’ Olivia had an impressive rosette from her riding and Owen talked about the defibrillator being located in his village. We celebrated the Year 3 & 4 Kwik Cricket team who represented the school at a tournament at Bryanston, just before the half-term break. They were: George M, Chloe, Ellie, Leighton, William, Eden, Sonny, Joe and James. Well done all!

Curriculum Showcase: Thank you to the throng of parents who came in to share the children’s home learning and to the PTFA who kept them refreshed. With the theme of ‘Food, Glorious Food’ from the previous half-term, we enjoyed a wide selection of edible home-learning – popular with just about everyone!

Athletics: The weather this year was bright and warm, which made a pleasant change from converting bin-bags into almost-waterproof clothing. We took 34 children from KS2. Everyone did their best and (hopefully) enjoyed the experience. We had particular successes with Katie (pretending to be older than she was) coming second in the Y6 600m; and Darren, who hurled his cricket ball further than anyone else. We wait to hear if they can go on to the County Athletics competition.
