CLASS NEWS
Oak Class
This week, we have been going through our maths tests and looking at areas which we need to revisit before next year – year 7 or year 6! The children found the tests challenging, so we have plenty of work to do for the rest of this week.
In English, we have been writing some memories about our school journey so far. We listened to some quality work from previous children which gave us inspiration to improve our work using tension to engage our reader. In history, we looked at the triangular slave trade, as well as life on board slave ships. We thought that although it made us sad, it was important information to know. We have also practiced performing and memorising a poem. Next week, we are looking forward to learning more about the lives of Black Britons and reviewing our science sticky knowledge. (Mrs Clasby)
Chestnut Class
What a fantastic week it’s been in Chestnut Class!
In History, we journeyed back to Ancient Egypt, delving into the fascinating role of the Pharaohs. We learned about their immense power and significance in Egyptian society.
Our Science lessons continued to be a real highlight! We’ve been using micro-bits to program our very own traffic lights. This has been an amazing experience, and the entire class has shown incredible focus and achieved great success.
Maths saw us sharpening our skills in plotting coordinates to create shapes. This built nicely on our previous knowledge of shapes, helping us embed what we’ve learned.
Swimming continues to be a highly enjoyed session, and with the record temperatures we’ve been having, I’m sure everyone appreciated the chance to cool off!
Finally, a huge “Thank you!” to all the children who were in Chestnut Class or moved up during our moving-up morning. The morning was packed with engaging activities, and your enthusiasm throughout was wonderful to see. (Mrs Sanda)
Beech Class
This week has been yet another busy week in Beech Class, the children have been doing lots of fun activities from swimming to transition morning as well as play rehearsals and mini Olympics.
During the afternoons, Beech Class have learnt more about Elizabeth I and continued to add to our understanding of what animals are like during the different seasons. In addition to this, the children have been working hard with levers and linkages in DT and discussing about secrets and when they should and shouldn’t be kept.
(Mrs Whelan)
Hazel Class
This week has been an incredibly busy week with Mini Olympics, play rehearsals and swimming sessions. Mini Olympics is a brilliant sporting event run by Gillingham School. We complete lots of fun sporting events alongside St Mary’s and St Greg’s schools. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
We have been talking about being healthy this week. The children have explored different ways to keep healthy such as getting enough sleep, eating the right foods and the right amounts, exercising and brushing teeth. We have worked together to create a pirate dance and move a hoop along the row of children without using our hands.
