Dear Parents and Carers

It has been lovely to see so many of you supporting the many varied events the children have been involved with this week.

Due to a last-minute meeting, I was unable to join our Cross Country Runners at Gillingham School on Wednesday, but I understand they tried really hard and put in some very creditable times. With almost two-thirds of our eligible children taking part, they should be congratulated on their willingness to enter, for giving their best effort (especially Chloe, Annie and Leo who had to run twice!) and for yet again representing the school so brilliantly. Mrs Cross tells me the added bonus was the easy identification of Stower Provost children by their Christmas Jumpers, with shouts of encouragement from the onlookers of ‘Come on, Father Christmas, you’re doing really well!’ being typical. Well done to all the children who took part and many thanks to Mrs Cross for organising the Stower Provost SPrinters!

Congratulations also go to the Year 3 and 4 children in Chestnut Class who entertained us with their Guitar Concert yesterday. I am always amazed at the progress children make through this introduction to learning a musical instrument, and this concert was no exception. They all joined in very well, sharing some super songs with their appreciative audience. For some children, the Dorset Music Programme is the start of a life-long interest in playing music, and I know many of the group are hoping to carry on with the guitar next term.

This morning’s Christmas Tree Assembly was also very well-attended, and the children’s tree decorations made from recycled materials look wonderful. Everyone has worked very hard making these, and with practising for the assembly – well done, children. Many thanks go once again to the Chandler family for providing the lovely trees, grown very locally this year.

Don’t forget that after school today is the PTFA Christmas Bazaar. A lot of hard work has gone on behind the scenes to make sure we are ready to receive our special guest, and to organise all the fun stalls – I hope you are able to join us.

Also a reminder that all children need to be in school on Tuesday 10th December for 8.20am as the coach leaves for the Pantomime in Yeovil at 8.30am

With best wishes

James Stanford
