Dear All,

Thank you to all that attended the Post OFSTED Parent Meeting last night. It was good to get some input and feedback from you and the discussion that went on will help further move the school forward in the future.

To communicate better with parents and to get you in to school more to be part of your child’s learning. We invite you to be part of ‘National Number Day’ on Friday 3rd February 9 to 10am. This will be an opportunity to learn alongside your child in various maths based activities and to look at your child’s work and have a closer look at how we teach maths in school. In this way you will be better informed and this will help you in assisting your child at home with their homework. We plan to do more days like this in the future.

An early warning for the Curriculum Show Case! On 24th February we will be holding a Showcase based on this terms theme of ‘Back in time’. We would like all the children and staff to dress up that day as a famous historical person of their choice. Parents if you would like to join in with this that would be great!  At 2.30pm on that day there will be an opportunity to walk through ‘The Museum’ at the school, to see all the children’s costumes and the work done both at school and home. It will be a really fun event and again I hope you will be able to join us.

Unfortunately St. Mary’s School Shaftesbury are unable to provide deep water lessons for the KS2 children this year. This is due to St Mary’s not being able to make available a time slot that suits both schools. We hope that next year that this will be avoided and that this arrangement will resume. We will of course be able to use our own swimming pool in the summer term.

Kind regards

Martin Marshall
