Dear Parents and Carers

It has been good to see so many of you at parents’ evenings this week. If you were not able to make an appointment, please contact the class teacher who will be very pleased to see you at a mutually convenient time.  Thank you also to everyone who has completed a questionnaire. If you have not yet handed yours in, please do so by Tuesday when I shall be collating the results, and drawing the raffle!

Sporting News

Our children in Years 4, 5 and 6 have now finished their 10 week block of deep water swimming at St Mary’s in Shaftesbury. I have received excellent reports about the progress they have made, about the development of their confidence and, as always for our children, about their wonderful behaviour. We have been very lucky to use the facilities at St Mary’s, and the children have benefitted hugely. Many thanks also go to Miss Stone, Mrs Crossman and Mrs Clasby for taking the children each week and helping the children get the most out of the experience. If you are interested in your child carrying on with swimming lessons, courses for all abilities run regularly at Riversmeet in Gillingham, as well as most of the local independent schools.

Well done to our children in Years 3 and 4 who took part in the Football Tournament at Gillingham School on Wednesday. Having won the ‘B’ section last year, they were promoted to the ‘A’ Division, and came a very creditable 3rd in their group. Well done to all the players, and once again, thank you Coach Beeson for helping them play so well as a team.

Today, our swimmers are back in action, taking part in the local Swimming Gala again at St Mary’s. I will let you know how they fared in my next newsletter.

PTFA News

Next Friday, 29th March is the Family Quiz, 6 – 8pm. Everyone is welcome, £3:00 per person, to include light refreshment.  Teams must have a maximum of 8 with at least one child under 12 on each team. Please book your table by Monday 25th March via e-mail (heasmans@btinternet.com) or drop in a note and the entry fee at the school office.

Bags to School

Our next collection for this brilliant fundraiser will be on Wednesday 24th April, almost straight after the Easter Holiday. So, as the weather turns warmer (we hope) and thoughts turn to summer clothes, please put aside any unwanted items and bring them in before school on 24th.

Art Club will restart on Thursday 25th April.

I am sure the children in Hazel Class are looking forward to the Mothers’ Day Tea Party on Tuesday 26th March at 2.45pm – I hope many of you will be able to come.

With best wishes

James Stanford
