Dear Parents and Carers

It has been lovely to have the children playing on the field again this week, making the most of our wonderful space. As we are now into the summer term, summer sports are the order of the day, so cricket, rounders and athletics are taking the place of the ubiquitous football.

Clubs

With apologies for the slightly delayed start to our after school clubs this term, please see the form sent home in hard copy today to complete if your child would like to attend them. This half term we will be offering athletics on Tuesdays, Choir Wednesday lunchtime, and Art and Tennis on Thursdays. With most of our fixtures with other schools taking place after school on Wednesdays it has proved a difficult day to run a club. If you are interested in either helping run one of our clubs, or would like to offer something different, we would love to hear from you.

After half term, we hope to be offering our usual after-school swims to make the most of the pool. This is a brilliant opportunity for the children to practise what they have been learning in their lessons during school time and is always very popular. After at least 9 years of charging £1 per after-school swim, due to rising costs we now need to increase the charge to £1:50. Details of how to book a place for your child will be sent home nearer the time.

Headlice

We have had a small number of cases of nits in school this term. Please check your child’s hair regularly and treat accordingly. We still have some of the ‘bug buster’ packs in the office for sale at £1, which come highly recommended.

Curriculum Workshops

The support you give at home is invaluable and makes a real difference to your children’s progress, but at parents’ evenings we often hear how you can find it difficult to help your child because new methods can be so different from the old. We would like to share with you how we teach various aspects of maths and English through a series of workshops over the next couple of terms. In order for these workshops to be useful to the widest audience, it would be very helpful if you let us know in which curriculum areas you would like more information. Please complete and return the other slip on the sheet sent home today.

Don’t forget that this weekend we have a Bank Holiday, so school will re-open on Tuesday, 7th May.

With best wishes

James Stanford
