Newsletter 8th September 2017
September 8, 2017 Sandy Pike

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to another school year and a very warm welcome to the new families joining us this September in Conker Class, and across the school. I’m sure you will also support me in welcoming our new member of the staff team – Mr. Stanford, teaching in Oak Class.

The diary dates fixed so far for this year are at the end of this newsletter. We will try our best not to change them once published, but please be understanding if it is unavoidable. New information will be added in red to any subsequent summary of diary dates list.

Thank you to all parents who have given me such a warm welcome. I am really looking forward to working with you all. It promises to be another exciting year at Stower Provost , especially with the advertisement already in place for the appointment of a new permanent Head Teacher.

If you have any further suggestions for new things to consider or improve (or things you think are going well!), please do not hesitate to share them with any member of the staff team.

Star of the Week

If your child has been nominated for a star award or a trophy you will receive an email notifying you the day before the service so that you can attend if you are able.  Star of the Week will take place on Fridays from next week, on 22nd September.

Sick children away from school, late and unauthorised absence

If your child is unwell and will not be attending school, please leave a message on the school answer phone before 9am. For safeguarding reasons, it is very important that we know if a child we are expecting at school will be absent, otherwise we will contact you to ensure they are safe.

If we have not been notified of a pupil’s absence, your child will be recorded in registers as an unauthorised absence.

Children who arrive after 8.50am will be recorded as late and those arriving after 9.10am will be recorded as unauthorised absence.

Keeping Children Safe

We are very keen indeed to maintain the warm, welcoming atmosphere in our village school, but at the same time we have a legal duty to adhere to national safeguarding procedures. Please ask permission and respect our need to make sure you are accompanied if you need to access the building. Whilst this may feel insulting, safeguarding all children (including yours!) is our top priority.

Late Arrivals

Arriving on time and being ready to learn is a key part of the school day. All pupils should be in the school by 8.50am. each day and can go straight into class. Morning registration ends at 8.55a.m and lessons begin promptly at 9am.

School car park

Please can we remind you that, for safety reasons, the car park is to be used with extreme care.  If you require use of the disabled parking space by the front gates, please speak with Mrs. Pike in the school office.

The Vegetable Patch

If you would like to help with gardening, or know someone who could spare a few hours to tend the school vegetable patch, please let us know. The school grounds should be a stunning trademark of our delightful school buit they are desperately in need of TLC at the moment. Can you spare a lunchtime or an hour after school?
