Dear All,

What a fantastic week we have had at School! Last Friday I had the privilege of taking a team of Year 5 and 6s to St Mary’s School for the North Dorset Swimming Gala. Oli, Jess, Thea, Rosie, Ella and Ebony did themselves and the school proud with some outstanding individual and team performances.

Then on Monday we had a visit from Peter Wilson an Olympic Gold medallist. He spoke to the children about his experiences and all that listened to him could not help but be inspired. I hope your child came home buzzing, I know I was. Ollie Collins won the Commonwealth competition and got to hold the gold medal first and raised the flag on our new flag pole.

Then on Tuesday we had a Fossil Workshop, where the children got to find out about fossils, had a fossil hunt, made fossils and met ‘Spike’ the Ammonite. On Wednesday there was a special assembly about ‘Making Good Choices’ by Mark Griffiths who has appeared on Britain’s Got Talent! I think he made a lasting impression on the children. We also continued our sporting success by coming 3rd in our group in the Year 5 and 6 Football Tournament at Mere.

Wow, what an eventful week and it’s not over yet! We still have Chestnuts assembly on Friday (followed by the internet safety talk) and the Sports Relief Mile. All at school will need a well-earned rest after all of that.

Kind regards

Martin Marshall
