Singing Day: Last Friday we were lucky to have singing specialist Cathy Murray in school. She worked with all the classes over the day, and we finished by sharing some of our vocal efforts in a whole-school session. This was paid for Dorset Music Service and organised by the Gillingham Pyramid.

For the previous Friday’s assembly, our ‘Stars of the Week’ were Annie, Ollie and Rose. A Gold award for 30 stars went to George M, and Joe, Ellie and Ruby received silver certificates. Meanwhile,  Florence and George M gained their Gold Reading awards, with Ellie-Tailor achieving Silver.  We celebrated the children who had participated in the Yeovil ‘Area Athletics’ with a particular mention for Katie U who came second in the Y6 600m, despite being in Year 5, and for Darren who followed up a third in the 600m with victory in the ball throw!

Montacute House was visited by all of our KS2 children on Wednesday. Despite it being the wettest day for some time, we managed to stay reasonably dry and had an interesting and enjoyable day. The Mini-Olympics is being held today (slippery grass permitting) at St Mary’s Marnhull, and we wish our Reception and KS1 children well in that.

Sun, sand and sea (well sun and swimming pool). A big ‘well done’ to the vast majority of children who are reliably appearing at breaktimes with a sun-hat. With regard to sun protection cream, can we ask that you apply a waterproof (so using the pool isn’t a problem) sun cream at home in the morning. It’s difficult to deal with multitudes of sun-cream bottles and to know who has and hasn’t put their cream on, especially with the younger children!

As we approach the end of the school year, the governors would really appreciate it if you could spend a few minutes of your time to complete an online parent survey to give us some feedback about our school.  Your responses will help the governing board and staff to progress the school on our journey to becoming ‘Good to Outstanding’ again.

These questions have been taken from the Ofsted Parent View form with an additional question asking for your suggestions about how we can improve.  We take your comments very seriously.

To begin the survey please enter the following into your web browser:

To allow you to respond with confidence your answers will be anonymous. Please complete the survey and submit it by Monday 10th July.

Reminder: Please can you send in any ‘Sainsbury Active vouchers’ you may have.
