Dear All,

I have some fantastic news to share with you!

We have finally made two outstanding appointments for the Reception/Year 1 teacher.  Corrina Symonds who is currently working at Mere school is going to join us after the Christmas holiday when she has worked out her notice period.  Mrs. Symonds is an outstanding teacher.  She has experience of mixed reception and Year 1 classes, has been an Early Years Co-ordinator for eight years and is part of the Early Years Moderation Team for Wiltshire.

In addition, yesterday we appointed Tamsin Edmed. Mrs. Edmed has 15 years teaching experience and has been supply teaching for the past few years while her own children have been growing up. Mrs. Edmed would like to return to full time teaching and is very keen to join Stower Provost for a term.  Mrs. Edmed has extensive experience of all primary years teaching, particularly EYFS teaching.  Mrs. Edmed has covered Mrs. Symonds classes in the past and the two teachers work very well together.  They plan to liaise over the holiday to ensure that the children have the best possible start. They are going to be a real asset to the school.

Next I need to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all the parents and friends of the school who gave up their time yesterday to help create our amazing Forest School. This couldn’t have happened if we hadn’t had all the kind donations from everyone who contributed. The list is too long to share in this newsletter but I will be contacting you all individually. But one person I must mention is Mr Guy Gilding who helped coordinate the collection of equipment and helpers and without this none of it would have been possible.

I’m very excited about our New Forest School, I’m passionate about outdoor learning and children learning from real life experiences. Becky Beveridge (Forest School teacher) was overwhelmed by the support yesterday and is also very grateful for all the hard work put in. All the children are raring to go in September.

Finally we need to say some goodbyes. Yesterday Mrs Hartgill came in to say goodbye to Conkers class and the staff who put on a tea party for her and we thank her for all her years of service to the school, the contributions she has made and wish her well for the future. Mrs Myatt is also leaving us at the end of term. We wish her all the best at St Mary’s Primary, our loss is their gain. Also thank you to Mrs Lumb who has done a sterling job in the last few weeks, to cover in Conkers class.

A special mention also needs to be made for Sara Vaughan and Steve Gosney, who are both stepping down from governance of the school at the end of term. They have worked tirelessly over many years to guide the school forward, both have served terms as chair to the board, often a thankless task. So on behalf of all associated with the school I want to thank them for all they have done.

That just leaves me to wish our current year 6’s farewell and every success in the future. A big thankyou to all the staff and volunteers for all their hard work throughout the year to help the children to be the best they can be!

Have a good break and we will see you in September.

Kind regards

Martin Marshall
